Chris Ziegler lädt Upgrade! Munich in seine Installation im Rahmen des Dance2006 10. internationales Festival des zeitgenossischen Tanzes der Landeshauptstadt München ein. Er wird über das Konzept und die Realization des Werkes erzählen und über seine Erfahrung im Grenzbereich zwischen Neuen Medien und Tanz.

wald – forest

Der Wald ist sowohl Architektur als auch Organismus. Außerhalb der Zivilisation ein ambivalenter Ort, setzt er Fantasie und Ängste gleichermaßen frei. Chris Ziegler, am ZKM (Zentrum für Kunst und Medien) in Karlsruhe arbeitender Medienkünstler aus München, greift mit wald – forest, einer medialen Installation, diese Ambivalenzen auf und lädt den Besucher zum interaktiven Spiel ein. Sein medialer Raum funktioniert als Performance Environment, in dem sich Tanz, Licht und elektronischer Klang in permanent wechselnden Konstellationen miteinander verweben. Das Publikum ist eingeladen, sich im virtuellen Wald zu bewegen und mit dem eigenen Körper selbst Lichteffekte, Geräusche und Klänge zu erzeugen.

(Hinweis: am 2. und am 4. November um 19 Uhr wird das illuminierte Assoziationsfeld in einer Performance von der Tänzerin Christine Bürkle und dem Komponisten Sandeep Bhagwati in Szene gesetzt. Chris Ziegler, Münchner Medienkünstler zur Zeit am ZKM Karlsruhe. Produzierte preisgekrönte CD-ROMs, interakitve Installationen und DVDs u.a. für das ZKM Karlsruhe, für das Ballett Frankfurt, die National Gallery of Canada.

Produktion von interakitven Tanzperformance „scanned“ (2001 / Award Junge Kunst und Neue Medien, München) und „turned“ (2004) u.a. Produktionen in Musiktheater, Oper und Ballett. Er zeigt seine Arbeiten auf internationalen Festivals in Frankreich, Japan, Indien und in Deutschland (EMAF, transmediale01 / 05). Er hält Vorträge und unterrichtet internationale Workshops im Bereich Tanz und Neue Medien.

Dance and interactive Installations

Chris Ziegler invites Upgrade! Munich to his interactive installation, part of the Dance2006 10th International Festival of Contemporary Dance in Munich. He will explain some of the conceptual and technical background to his works and his experiences working in the border realms between dance and new media.

wald – forest

The forest is architecture as well as an organism. Beyond civilization, it is an ambivalent place, setting both fantasies and anxieties free. Chris Ziegler from Munich, who works at the ZKM (Centre for Art and Media) in Karlsruhe as a media artist, has created a media installation with his piece wald – forest that uses these ambivalences and invites the visitor to take part in an interactive game. His media space functions as a performance environment where dance, light and electronic sounds are interwoven in constantly changing constellations.
